One of only five remaining teachers who studied with the Pilates’, Ron Fletcher holds a unique perspective on the body of work now known as Pilates. With study and knowledge of movement coming from not only the Pilates’, but also from great visionaries such as Martha Graham, Agnes DeMille, Alma Hawkins and Yeichi Nimura, he has spent the past 60+ years studying and exploring movement, and he has stayed true to Clara Pilates’ words, “There is far to go with this work - this work is in your blood and you are the man to create and develop it from this point on. Go and do!”
Fletcher Pilates evolves directly from the original method taught to Ron Fletcher by Joe and Clara Pilates. Combining principles and precision techniques of classic Pilates with his extensive modern dance background, Ron Fletcher developed an organic, flowing and artful series of movements - deeply engaging the body, mind and breath - that are as challenging to perform as they are satisfying to master. While staying true to the “A, B, C’s”, he has developed, over a 40 year period, his own innovations, including the Fletcher Towelwork and Percussive Breathing techniques, which are unique to his work.
We are both proud and honored to have been his students for the past 20 years, and realize the gift that we have been given to have learned from such a teacher. He is a true Master.
